Salt Pond 2025 Annual Ponds and Wetlands Management Plan
In accordance with the 3/19/2009 MOA here is the Salt Pond annual plan for 2026.
The following actions are planned for 2026:
- Tributaries will continue with the management plan contract for 2026. All 15 ponds will be treated with biological, chemical and pesticides for the control and prevention of excessive algae and pond weeds.The goal is to minimize the use of pesticide prevention so as to aid in the control of insect levels consistent with the promotion of a functioning ecosystem. A list of approved chemicals is available from the licensed applicator.
- The management plan also included the removal of fallen trees and limbs from connecting swales and ditches.
- Tributaries will continue to maintain all approved aerators and fountain/ diffusers. Repairs will be completed as required. Aerators continue to enhance the health of all ponds. A new aerator will be installed in pond J.
- Sussex Tree will conduct the annual tree survey of the Conservation Easement to identify and remove trees and branches that present a safety concern to persons, homes,roads and ditches.
- The replacement of Conservation Easement signs will continue as required.
- Working with DNREC, Sussex County Conservation District ,ACOE and Tributaries the removal of sediment in various locations as permitted will commence in 2025. Salt Pond will hire an attorney to coordinate the necessary approvals with the agencies.
